Betty Campbell's Legacy
Rachel Clarke, the granddaughter of Wales' first black head teacher, is proud of her grandmother's legacy. The statue of the trailblazing teacher was commissioned after a BBC Wales Hidden Heroines poll. Clarke believes that her grandmother's strong sense of belief and desire to instill pride in her pupils was part of the reason why Rachel, along with her mother, are both worked in school leadership themselves and credits her grandmother as her longstanding inspiration to pursue a career in education.
